Ola Hoglund and Marie Simberg-Hoglund would have to be NZ's foremost artisans with a huge international reputation, so its a great accolade to have the ceramic lights included in their stunning new gallery, many of the pieces especially made for them. Their experience in galleries, craftmanship & shipping glassworks around New Zealand and overseas is a great asset.

Chan Andreassend are part of the White Night Gallery event- 60 of Aucklands Galleries are open till midnight for One Night. The store is open, a gallery out the front and for the first time ever opening up the back studio and turning it into a 200sqm outdoor gallery space . We are in the heart of Ponsonby and just around the corner from some of Ponsonby`s notable Galleries.

If you want to exhibit as well give us call or email. There is no commission or exhibition fees the only requirement is to help with setup and publicity.

Ceramic Anvils ready for firing the second will also have resin layered sections. Both are lights. Hopefully one will be ready for the Melbourne show

The Lotus Leaf is embedded in resin bringing out the exquisite detail of nature, mounted onto a frosted resin base, 300mm high with a ses fitting rec. energy saver lamp or 40 watts.
The original 400mm dia was also adapted as a wall fitting over existing light fixtures in the luxurious East Day Spa at Auckland`s Sky City.

The multi coloured layers of resin produce some intriguing and unpredicatable results, although time consuming, it is well worth the effort. The range has increased from the canoe bowls, bookends to now include a vase, sculptures and jewellery. More photos to come soon.

Ronald`s new Visual Arts R&D project.
A seemingly aimless wander amongst random objects, half finished pieces and vague ideas that sometimes get buried or forgotten in the routine of everyday work.
There are ideas from family history, music, memories and objects that have no reason except to amuse and intrigue.

Its not everyday that one sees their Great Grandmother reported in such a descriptive terms.
There are over 100 newspaper articles some with extensive coverage of the inquest and trial. Startling for its clarity especially as its Dunedin 1896
This is a story that is so much bigger than the article even mentions, who knows where this will lead but it is a story that deserves to be told.
Other artists are being invited as well, but I would really like my relatives to be part of this too.

This new series of Handtool sculptures are inspired by a collection of Ronald`s great grandfathers work tools. It celebrates the trades as well explores family histories and connections. The 40 Lantern Drawings are a present for Ronald`s father 85th birthday and based on his Great Grandparent`s Lantern. The process has ignited a new passion with a series based on Perfume Bottles surely one of life`s essential luxuries. 600 x 450mm pastel, crayon and ink on paper. Inspiration is hard to fathom, but sometimes you wake up and bam!

The Inlaid resin discs were recently commissoned for the New Zealand Chinese Trade Association Awards, presented by PM John Key and awarded for excellence in Business and Trade in China. A variety of materials were used from gold & silver leaf, dried loutus leaf, veneer, ink all encased in a polished curved resin disc, the largest 450mm high 5.5kgs. Intended to be seen from both sides as well as backlit.

The Ceramic Dome Jars have been recently commissioned for VIP Suites in the Ritz Carlton Shanghai. New patterns and detailing were created to reflect the Art Deco Interiors.

Pillow Talk is the debut collection from Romersk Sleepwear. Named after the 1959 romantic comedy “Pillow Talk”, the collaboration of velvets, silks, and florals take us back to a glamorous time where Elvis Presley topped the charts, Marilyn Monroe ruled the box office, Dior created the “new look”, and sugar was 8 cents a pound. This is our daughter Sophie`s exciting first venture and was recently launched in Melbourne .

Chan Andreassend design and make all our products. We frequently produce customised items for homes, corporate projects and smaller items from keyrings, belt buckles to beads. With all the advantages of producing locally, handmade production also can be more cost effective in producing high quality unique items in smaller quantities than can be easily achieved with imported product.

These shapes surely have to be viewed as classics.
From bright pop colours to embedded paua, pebbles and feathers, originally in resin, then ceramics and back again they have sold literally in the thousands throughout NZ
These objects bring ideas from the artwork into tableware, beginning with our Tapa pattern.Each piece is individually drawn in reverse, reflecting both craftsmanship and skill.In the age of machine made and digital print you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise!

Treasured household items from times gone past. Where taking tea was more than a just a drink but an occasion to be enjoyed.
This new series celebrates family history and stories beginning with the teapot and anvil which can be seen reflected in the window.The teapot belonged to Ronald`s great grandmother Hannah, the piece connecting with others as they reflect on memories of their own grandparents. This new collection developed from Ronald`s part time project to discover the stories and origins of his family roots from Scotland, London, Norway, China, Melbourne and South Canterbury.
Recently Ronald teamed up with writer Siobhan Harvey as part of Metonymy 2010 and developed works based around family secrets and connections. The family website is about to have a major update now that relatives in Norway have been found

Motifs This collection of graphical symbols and shapes are cast in resin in a multitude of unique colour combinations, are inspired by road signs, advertising logos, flags and labels. The Work includes artworks, jewellery and homeware.

Landscape paintings as seen through a round window was the cataylst for this new creative endeavour. The first ones have been installed in the carpark creating an outdoor gallery out front of the studio. The collection includes paintings on board, paper as well as tableware

Tableware
Inspired by the old school signwriters reverse painting techniques, some old favourites are coming back with a fresh look. Including the small dishes, canoe bowls and plates with patterns that were popular on lampshade and incised into the surfaces of the ceramics s well as new ideas from the landscape paintings.

Baby Waves
The beautiful qualities of the larger wave lights has been captured in our new petite version. Which includes a posy version of the Flower Garden light with its array of coloured resin flowers as well as a branch version with delicately placed leaves and butterfly reminiscent of Chinese Jade carvings.
