Victoria Park Market is an exceptional location, stunningly renovated and stands empty waiting for a big idea to catapult back into the exciting destination it was 20 years ago. If this was Melbourne or Sydney it would be pumping!
THAT BIG IDEA IS:
Art, Design & Culture at Victoria Park Market and surrounding areas
Design stores, galleries as well as exhibition spaces and popup markets and flexible enough for Artists to show their work at a rate that is affordable.
This is a rare opportunity to grab a key location and give it a distinctive Creative edge attracting both tourists and locals and provide a
natural link between Britomart, Silo Park and Ponsonby Road along K Road then down Queen Street effectively expanding the Creative Precinct and giving artists, tourists and locals more opportunities to look experience, shop and enjoy.
With its central location, historic building and high exposure to traffic on Victoria Street West and the South bound motorway its hard to ignore the potential and possibilities.
Stage One
ARTWEEK 10-19 October 2014
Stage Two
Stage Three
The Creative sector in Auckland has huge potential to grow economically, contribute to the culture of Auckland but more importantly be able to earn an income independently of funding. The Auckland City Council has a strategy for Arts and Culture in Auckland while it has some ambitions,it still fails to open up the opportunities for artist to earn income even remotely
The Victoria Park Markets Art and Design Centre is a step towards creating economically viable Creative Entrepreneurs and provides a new focus for the creative sector.
This is an initiative between Chan Andreassend , Artweek and Victoria Park Market, for creative entrepreneurs who want to expand their business and create a future for themselves.
